Andy’s 90-day weight loss challenge: Day 8

Day 8, Saturday 21st July 2018, start of week 2.

Weight loss so far: 7lbs (3.1Kg)

A nice start to my weight loss challenge – this is normal, a fairly “large” loss in the first week or two, then it settles down and slows to around 1 to 3 lbs per week. Sometimes it will be a little more.

It’s why so people give up – they get the larger losses at the start then get disappointed when the hard slog kicks in and they only lose a couple of lbs a week. It can be disheartening, but it is normal and is, in fact, better for you to lose it slower. You tend to have a better chance of keeping it off for longer and things like your skin will have a greater chance of shrinking back.

On a personal note, I have been finding it hard to adjust to this change in my diet. While I have been used to having meal replacement shakes for a while, it’s the other things such as cutting out snacks that have been the hardest adjustment. Again, this is normal, and from my experience last year, it will get easier after two or three weeks.
